Acquia Campaign Studio and Campaign Factory, formerly known as the Mautic Cloud and Maestro, delivers email and marketing automation capabilities within Acquia’s digital experience platform (DXP) for enterprises. Acquia is the main supporter of the Drupal project, an open source content management system which is highly customizable particularly for high traffic, multi-user sites. Both Drupal and Acquia were founded by Dries Buytaert, where he is now the CTO and a board member.
In 2019, Acquia acquired Mautic to extend Drupal with contact and campaign management functionality that would enable it to compete on the same footing with other digital experience management platforms from vendors like Adobe and Optimizely. The two companies were a natural fit, with Mautic being to date, the only open marketing platform, and Acquia being an open source company at heart.
The rounding out of Acquia’s offering from a primary focus on content management to a complete, hosted suite with MarComm and CDP capabilities undoubtedly contributed to Acquia being named as a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms.
Even though Mautic, the company, has now been absorbed into Acquia’s enterprise products, open source development of the Mautic Community Edition continues with Drupal’s support at Mautic.org. System integrators and independent software vendors (ISVs) can freely integrate Mautic into their own products, and develop custom plugins for it, much like Acquia has done with Campaign Studio in their DXP.
Agencies can deliver many of the same powerful capabilities as a DXP to their clients with a lower barrier to entry, by integrating an instance of Mautic in the Autoize™ Marketing Automation Infrastructure with CMS such as WordPress, Wix.com, Squarespace, Joomla, or Drupal.
